What Young India wants!

Recently I took part in an essay competition; 'Young Authors' Hunt'! After a lot of editing and watching a lot of cartoons (cartoons give me inspiration so, stop laughing/smirking) I wrote this:

WHAT YOUNG INDIA WANTS

                                                        By W. Amoolya

"A start is better than no start."

India is a big country, and it has an even bigger working population, what we call; young India. So, what do WE WANT? That question has a very big answer, which, even 900 words cannot cover; we want a lot of things, so I guess it’s safe to say that ‘’All we want is everything’’. Now, keeping aside music CD’s, PC’s or PSP’s, what we really want is what we really need, and what unfortunately we’re not getting! We want independence, individualism, importance, and opportunities to be great and popular! We want an opportunity to make a difference to the society, the environment, the COUNTRY! We want freedom, equality, justice, a corruption-free nation, and most of all SAFETY! Freedom to SPEAK, safety to walk ALONE at any time of the day or night, safety to RAISE VOICE against wrong, against injustice and inequality! We can do SO much if we JUST get the right opportunity! We do not want to achieve greatness by slipping some money to a corrupt official! We want to stand up on our feet and we want equality in that! We want to be the greatest and no restraints to achieve that! It is not fair that others get ahead because of money or a good bloodline! We want equal chances! We do not want to be denied our rights; we want to have everything that our constitution guarantees and without the prejudice of sex, caste or religion! We want development and to live on Earth and give the same privilege to our future generation. We do not want earth to wither and die, global warming is worse than corruption! We do not want a disturb ecological balance or food chain; we want to live in peace and harmony with all other elements and creatures of Mother Nature; we want to be able to point at a royal Bengal tiger and tell our children that it is our national animal, not show them a picture, and say check out our national animal, it went extinct 10 years ago! We can still cut down the growing plant of evil; illiteracy (roots), growing corruption (stem), injustice and inequality (buds), no safety or respect for women (flowers),; India can bask in the glory our freedom fighters dreamt of! Our nation has the potential to reach soaring heights with great leaders of our generation to lead it into greatness! THAT is what young India wants; to be the best, the greatest and the BRIGHTEST light on Earth! In return for this investment, we want to give back to India a bright future, for HER and her children, including the environment, wildlife and the plant life! Sounds pretty Utopian, doesn’t it? But our generation IS struggling for it, and in the end it will be worth it all; a better future for generations to come, a corruption-free and FUNCTIONAL government, equitable income, development, less poverty, eco-friendly, harmony amongst people and nature! Earth does not need to end for us to realise how important it is, we are raising our voices, but we alone cannot accomplish it; we need support and encouragement to continue! India is a vast country with so much diversity. But we took an oath after our Independence, that we’d never forget; “UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL’’, a lesson we learnt the hard way, so why are we forgetting it? In times of crisis; the need is to rise above all and unite against; 2G scams, criminal and rape cases, slow justice system, corrupt officials, extreme poverty, misusing resources, depleting forests, endangering plant and animal species, ecological issues, etc!? We have heard about Ms. Malala Yousafzai in Pakistan. Our state of affairs may not be as bad but still we have areas where girls are still not allowed to study and are not considered equal with men! We still have cases like Nirbhaya? Where the victim is tortured and still awaits justice; despite laws being passed, why is it not enforced? Why do some men in India have absolutely no respect for women and our nation? It’s not what we wear that should be changed, but the outlook of the public!! Why are these not as important to us as social networks, money or consumerism? By the time we realise our shortcomings, there will be no India to turn back to! Come on, it is obvious what I am trying to say! Jago India jago!! Our forefathers did not fight for freedom to achieve THIS! It might not change overnight; but a start, even a small one has the power to bring about a revolutionary change!! In the book WHAT YOUNG INDIA WANTS, collated by Mr. Chetan Bhagat, there are many stories of young India, about our society, politics, thoughts and innovations for better development of the economy, great speeches, moralities, etc. All well, we understood the point of the book, BUT, why stay just in the book? Why don’t the ideas come out to make a DIFFERENCE? India is big country, but if we weigh her down so much, she will sink in the Ocean like the titanic! Alone we can manage to make a difference, by correcting OUR ways, in itself, is a huge step forward. Starting out is always hard; it is true that ‘’Old habits die hard’’ but if the old habits are wrong, they’ve got to die, leading to a ‘’Free and forward thinking India’’.

P.S. there is something wrong with my word document, that is the reason why it is not written in paragraphs and I didn't have the patience to try either so... :P

Change (not chillar!!)

Recently, my best friend (following my footsteps, mind you *wink-wink-nudge-nudge*) took up writing; she has wrote stuff that are amazing, and I just thought, since she wouldn't take any initiative to show people her talent (she's very lazy :v ), I would put it on my blog for the world to see and appreciate her *beams*
So here it is; CHANGE by Rutuparnna Mishra ==>

CHANGE
                                                                                                       -Rutuparnna Mishra
Change originally means nothing but, ‘’making a difference’’ or ‘’to cause transformation’’. But I feel, it’s just not it there. It has a lot more to it.
In our lives, if things are going pretty well, we do wish for it to remain the way it is; we expect the people in our life to stay as they are, unchanged. But, does it remain so? No. It does not. It ‘’transforms’’ eventually, at some point or the other. On the other hand, if things aren’t that well, we try to cause change to it; we make an effort to make it better and if we cannot do so, we try to change the way we think about it. And so we ‘’make a difference’’. Therefore, the point made here is, nothing remains as it is FOREVER. People do change; things do change, whether or not you like it. Some change for better and others for the worse. Mostly it is because of the influence or even pressure from the outer world. Often it’s due to what our respective lives have thrown at us. Also sometimes, it’s on our own terms; our wish to stand above our own capabilities, to fulfil our urge to be considered good enough, to fit in. We all deal with it at some point of our life. Few don’t realize it; because the new world is good to them. For the rest it’s a nightmare, because they liked it better before. Here we are to discuss about those.
As we were younger, it was easy for us. Things were a lot less problematic than they are now. This begs the question, HOW!!? How was it not a big deal to let go of the old and step up to the new? Maybe it was because we did not have seen the real world yet or maybe because we did not have felt much emotion yet. Sure, it was a lot simpler; it was better that way. What about now, but? As I typed the question it even got me thinking at first, what about it? And it took me a good deal of time to come to this answer. Everybody has different ways to react to it, to cope up, with respect to their situation or lives. I could think of three ways; three ways, to hold up to it; to not let the change get the better of you.
The first one is to be SELFISH. It might sound strange to you at first, but being selfish is one way out of it, I feel. And when I say selfish, I mean, selfish to want happiness in life even when it seems hard. Wanting, not just to survive but live. Live on through all the hardship, affliction and adversity. For what it’s worth, life is too short to sit and whine. So don’t let the transformation in your world, bury the better self of you. Do not give up on yourself, never. Try to be a little selfish; selfish enough to help yourself out. Because when you are willing enough to help you, the rest will start working up on its own from there. And if you don’t like it change it that is, if you are capable of doing so. But what about, when you can’t? What do you do then? Here is another way out: ACCEPTANCE. Don’t deny the change, or just endure it, try to accept it. It may seem impossible at first. But you never know, maybe you can find goodness, from whatever else is still left. Also keep in mind that if you are going through a bad situation, someone out there is facing worse. If you worse, someone else facing worst. It will help you in finding happiness in little things. Make you happy with what you have got. So be a little more accepting. You never know when, before you even realizing it, your world will turn good to you. Finally the last way is to be OPTIMISTIC no matter what. Optimism is a good practice; it makes you look at things in a different way, in a better way.

Change is a good one, not all can handle it. But if you change your ways; if you do it right, you can survive it.
